Man charged following fire in Kendal

A man has been charged following a fire at a hostel on Town View, Kendal.

Emergency services were called to the hostel at approximately 1:30pm on the 27th March.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Patrick Bernas, aged 25 of Winder Lane, Flookburgh was charged with arson with intent to endanger life and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

“Bernas appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates today (March 30) and has been remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on the 27th April.”
