
A man was found with head and leg injuries on a Lake District fell.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue were called out after Cumbria police were contacted by a person who had come across the man near Ill Crag on Saturday July 18 at 1.48pm.
Due to the reported head injury, Coastguard Rescue 897 was also requested.
As the team were still making their way up on foot, Rescue 897 arrived first on the scene, treated the casualty and loaded him into the aircraft.
He was then flown to Carlisle Airport for onward transport to hospital.
The mountain rescue team were stood down once the casualty was airborne.
The team shared their thanks to the person who raised the alarm and to Rescue 897 for their assistance.
The incident lasted two hours and 44 minutes and involved 16 team members.
