COPELAND Council is appealing to private landlords with available accommodation in Copeland.

The Council as asking any landlords with available properties to get in touch with its Housing team at [email protected] or on 01946 598300.

Various incentives are on offer such as rent in advance and rent deposits should private landlords be willing to support housing Copeland’s residents.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “We know this is a time of immense pressure for everyone and may lead to more accommodation being required to house residents who have nowhere else to go.

“We are appealing to private landlords to come forward to ensure we have every possible resource at our disposal, should we need it.

“It is absolutely vital that everyone has a safe place to call home, particularly whilst the social distancing measures are in place, and we understand that relationships may break down during the added stresses of the current pandemic, so we’re exploring every possible avenue to keep residents healthy, safe and indoors at this time.

“Our fantastic Housing team provide 24 hour support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. And also to victims of domestic abuse and sexual exploitation and we urge anyone who needs their help to please, get in touch.”

The council urges anyone who is homeless, at risk of homelessness, or suffering from domestic abuse or sexual exploitation to call its Housing team, at any time, on 01946 427070, or email [email protected].
