During the current restrictions, mother and daughter swimmers have found a unique way to enjoy the exhilaration of an outdoor dip in their back garden.
Lily Ramsbottom and her mum Rachel are members of the Save Grange Lido Swim Team – a group of outdoor swimming enthusiasts who normally meet to swim in Cumbria’s lakes and tarns.
Lily said “I am really missing swimming during the lockdown. There is nothing like the feeling of being in fresh water in the open air so the water barrel was the only option to take a dip!”
Lily’s mum Rachel added “It really hard for children like Lily who are normally able to do so much more. She even drew some mountains in chalk on the wall to remind her of swimming in a beautiful lake.”
Save Grange Lido Ltd’s plans for the Phase II restoration of the Lido are still progressing during the lockdown. Phil Bradby, Chair of SGL said “whilst we had to postpone our Open Day in Grange in late March, we are planning to host a virtual one shortly. We are managing to continue our work using video conferencing for group meetings and to talk to our architects and professional team.”
