POLICE are investigating an incident of assault that occurred around 9pm on 3 September at The Whittington Cat, Whitehaven.
A customer was asked to leave the pub after becoming verbally abusive towards staff members; he later spat at the same staff members and left the premises.
A 20-year-old man from Whitehaven was arrested on suspicion of common assault. He remains in custody.
