A number of firms have stepped in to help secure a West Cumbrian community centre’s future.
Gas boilers at Northside Community Centre in Workington were beginning to reach the end of their working life and the centre’s committee was concerned that it could have serious consequences.
Celia Tibble, trustee and centre secretary, said: “Replacing the boilers was starting to exceed our means, especially since our existing systems were obsolete and couldn’t be repaired.”
However, Whitehaven Gas & Plumbing stepped in to help.
Celia added: “The guys from Whitehaven Gas looked at the system, contacted other local firms and have completely renewed the system. Without them the centre would have struggled to complete gas safety checks.
“Now, we have a modern hot water and heating system, which also meant we were able to achieve a five-star for hygiene score for the premises.”
EPS was one of the firms which helped with the renewal.
It said: “When Graeme Palmer and the team at Whitehaven Gas & Plumbing needed a hot water cylinder for vital work at the Northside Community Centre we were pleased to supply it free.
“This kept their essential heating and pipe upgrades on track, ensuring this important local resource remains open.
“Northside Community Centre houses a food pantry, playgroup, and community groups, and we are delighted to help keep these important services open by supporting this project.
“A big thank you also goes to our supplier, Joule UK, whose support made this possible. We really appreciate working with suppliers who are willing to go the extra mile to help us support our customers.
“It’s a great example of what merchants, suppliers and installers can achieve when working together to deliver the best outcome for the community.”
