Police are investigating a racially aggravated hate crime on Chapel Street, Appleby, that occurred sometime overnight between 3 October and 4 October.
A swastika symbol has been sprayed onto a shelter on the Butts, Appleby. Fortunately, this was later washed off without any permanent damage being caused.
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to please get in touch
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “We would also like to reassure the public as incidents of hate crime are rare and offenders will be treated robustly.”
