Ian Lofthouse, BAE Systems manager

A team who would normally take part in the annual Cumbria Challenge are set to put their best foot forward this weekend.

For the last years teams have taken part in the event, sponsored by BAE Systems, normally held in May.

The charity Walking With The Wounded benefit from the event which this year was cancelled.

BAE Systems’ manager Ian Lofthouse and friends will walk a 28km route which will see them pass by a number of memorials in and around Furness.

This Saturday they will begin from the crane memorial at the Dock Museum in Barrow before continuing to the submarine memorial in Ramsden Square.

Then they will walk to Dalton and on to Newton before continuing to Lindal.

Ian said: “There is so much we all take for granted; being able to walk, having a loving family home and being here to celebrate Christmas.

“Not everyone is so lucky – this is our chance to support all of those who are not so fortunate at this time of year.”
