A charity event to raise money for wounded veterans has been postponed.

The Cumbrian Challenge, which raises cash for Walking with the Wounded was due to take place in May, but organisers have postponed it until September 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now in its ninth year, has seen nearly 1,000 teams take on the fells above Grasmere and raise more than £1 million for ex-military in need of the charity’s mental health care, employment and care co-ordination programmes.

More than 150 teams are already signed up to the 2021 event after last year’s event was postponed.

It is hoped that by the autumn, outdoor events will be able to take place safely and the revised date creates a new opportunity for more people to register.
