Carlisle College is hosting a series of virtual events for year 11 students as part of National Apprenticeship Week next week.
Now in its 14th year, National Apprenticeship Week aims to showcase the positive impact apprenticeships can have on communities, local businesses and regional economies.
Carlisle College’s events will offer youngsters advice and guidance about apprenticeship opportunities it can offer.
Carlisle College is also using National Apprenticeship Week to launch the opening window for applications to its apprenticeship talent pool.
Andy Dodds, assistant principal, said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to learn while you earn, gain a qualification and open up new and exciting career paths.
“Apprenticeships are also able to futureproof workforces by providing employers with access to high quality training which meets the key skills needed by the businesses.”
Carlisle College currently works with over 700 apprentices across 350 local leading businesses, including Pirelli, Story, David Allen, Carlisle City Council and BSW Timber.
Martin Norris, business development manager, said: “Apprenticeships enable you to enter or stay in the world of work, earn a wage and learn new skills.
“Apprentices learn on the job, build up knowledge and professional skills and gain recognised qualifications.”
Speculative applications for September 2021 starts can now be submitted at carlisle.ac.uk.
