A woman is in a critical but stable condition after a serious crash on the A596.
The local woman, in her 50s, was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle on February 24 after a crash on the A596 at Micklethwaite.
Cumbria police were called to the collision involving a Volvo HGV and a Vauxhall Corsa at about 8.40am.
The driver of the Corsa suffered serious injuries and the driver of the Volvo was uninjured.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue and North West Ambulance were also called to the scene.
Firefighters from Carlisle West Fire Station and Wigton Fire Station attended and successfully rescued the woman from her vehicle.
A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: “We flew at 8.42am and were on scene in 12 minutes.
“We had a doctor and paramedic onboard and treated a patient alongside the North West Ambulance Service before he was airlifted to hospital in Newcastle.”
The spokesman confirmed the flight took 30 minutes.
