Two holiday parks in Cumbria have revealed they plan to to reopen to the public on April 12.

Haven, who have Lakeland Leisure Park in Grange-over-Sands, say they are “delighted” that Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s ‘roadmap’ out of the COVID-19 lockdown detailed a possible reopening of self-contained accommodation from April 12.

They said they “look forward to welcoming many families to enjoy a coastal break that we pride ourselves on”.

A statement from Haven said: “We appreciate there will be disappointed guests who were booked to stay with us during March and in early April, but we will continue to follow the guidance laid out by the Government, as we have throughout the pandemic, to ensure the health and wellbeing of the nation and the safety and security of our guests, owners and teams are our number one priority.

“We are conscious that this will have an impact on a large amount of British families, and we are currently contacting all guests affected by the closure and the options that will be available to them.

”We would like to thank our guests for their patience and continued understanding whilst we work through this as quickly as we can. We will continue to provide guest with information via our website and social media channels.”

Meanwhile, Center Parcs said it also plans to reopen its villages from April 12 – including the one at Whinfell Forest, near Penrith.

The firm said people will be able to visit with their own household to its fully self-contained lodges, but will not be able to book accommodation in hotels or apartments.

It will operate a restaurant delivery service and the majority of outdoor activities will be available.

A spokesman said: “We are currently reviewing the guidance to understand exactly what restrictions will be in place and will provide an update on this as soon as possible.”

Guests with existing bookings who no longer wish to visit will be given the option to move their dates with no amendment fee or cancel their break and receive a full refund and any guests with breaks booked up to April 11 will be offered the same options.
