Flood warning and alerts in place for Cumbria. February 26, 2021

Five flood alerts and one warning remain in force in Cumbria after heavy rain this week.

The flood warning – which means flooding is expected and imminent action is required – remains in place for Keswick Campsite.

The Environment Agency warning states: “River and lake levels remain high after recent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is likely for the next few days.

“Flooding is expected to affect low lying areas bordering the shores of Derwentwater and the frontage of the Keswick Camping and Caravan Club Site.

“The forecast is now dry so we expect levels to slowly recede. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near rivers and avoid using low-lying footpaths near rivers.”

The five flood alerts, which means flooding is possible – be prepared – remain in force for:

  • Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster
  • Rivers Cocker, Marron and Derwent
  • Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck
  • Rivers Lowther and Eamont
  • Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater
