A burglar who targeted a Carlisle newsagent is being hunted by police after he stole a number of scratch cards after breaking in through the window.

Officers are probing the incident at Lonsdale News on Lonsdale Street in Carlisle at some point between 1.30am and 2am on March 11.

Access was gained to the shop through a window, causing damage in the process. A number of scratch cards were taken.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a white man, about 6ft tall and slim, who was wearing a dark jacket with the hood up, a face covering and jeans at the time in the areas of Lonsdale Street and Crosby Street.

The same man is believed to have been cycling in the area on a red bicycle shortly before the incident.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who has CCTV in the area who they have not already been spoken to.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 8 of March 11 or via the ‘contact us’ form on their website.

Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
