A new book has been released which is inspired by a group of 13-year-old Cumbrian schoolgirls.
Kool COVID Kids is based on a group of Whitehaven girls, known locally as ‘Girls Gang’, who have seen the pandemic as an incredibly positive opportunity to review their young lives and become more socially and community aware of the world they live in.
They have dreamt of a better life, a more productive environment for themselves and their communities and are now in the process of making that dream come true.
Where most of the nation saw the pandemic as the darkest of storm clouds they found rainbows. Where the nation was plunged into fear they found hope and inspiration.
Through the profit from the sales of the book, they hope to raise sufficient funds to support and inspire the next generation of social scientists and community entrepreneurs.
The girls aim to support projects that will have a positive impact on their local schools and communities for years to come.
The Kool COVID Kids project has attracted the financial support of four local companies.
It has also attracted academic support from two eminent professors whose work is recognised globally. It is also supported and has acquired the active support of Cumbrian MPs Trudy Harrison and Tim Farron.
The book is priced at £12.99 and can be purchased online from the Kool COVID Kids website (www.koolcovidkids.org)
