ADVERT: Penrith care receives multiple awards

Gaudium, Care Company in Penrith has won ‘Elderly Care Service Provider of the Year’ in the North England Prestige Awards, as well as ‘Best Elderly Day Care Support Provider’ in the Social Care Awards.

After 8 years of providing care in Cumbria this is an amazing achievement for the company and offers some well-deserved recognition to their dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly over the last challenging year.

The judging panels based their decisions upon areas such as service excellence, quality of the services provided, innovative practices, value, ethical or sustainable methods of working, as well as consistency in performance. The winners selected were those who best demonstrated their strengths in these areas, so the whole team is delighted with the awards.

“Gaudium has been nominated for various awards over the years and have been finalists multiple years in a row, but this is the first time we have had a win, and we have got two!” said Director Mariusz Waluk.

He continued ‘’After the difficulties we’ve faced this year with the pandemic, to gain these awards is a really positive and uplifting accomplishment. I couldn’t be more proud of the staff.’’

Gaudium temporarily suspended their Day Centre Services last March after the onset of the pandemic, but have continued to support adults socially on a 1:1 basis, and provide them with much needed personal care in the home throughout.

“Some of our staff have had to change roles from the centre to going out in the community, and they have adapted so well. We have faced some difficulties like everyone has, and it has been tough going, but the award is such a wonderful reflection of the hard work they have done. I am so pleased for all of them.” added Mr Waluk.

When asked about plans for the future Mr Waluk described how this isn’t an indication that the company will rest where they are though. “We are planning to reopen our group sessions in our Day Centre to be able to provide the socialisation so many of our isolated older adults need, and of course there is still such a demand for home care services, so we are recruiting again now to expand our team, and take new enquiries for care.”
