Emergency services were called to a serious road traffic collision on the A596 near Micklethwaite.
Police were called today shortly after 8.40pm yesterday following a collision between a HGV and a car.
The A596 was closed in both directions between the B5302 at Wigton and the A595 at Thursby Roundabout.
Motorists were being asked to avoid the area.
