Sellafield Ltd has made a grant of £24,487 towards the specialist palliative and end of life nursing service delivered by Hospice at Home West Cumbria

Sellafield has awarded a grant of £24,487 to a vital Cumbrian charity.

Sellafield Ltd has issued the funding to Hospice at Home West Cumbria, which will help the charity to provide specialist palliative and end of life nursing service.

The funding will help the charity to care for patients in their own homes and other community-based settings. The service is the only charitable one of its kind in the region and is provided free of charge for all adults with a life-limiting condition.

Christina Nicholson, Home Nursing Team Leader, said: “Everyone at Hospice at Home West Cumbria is extremely grateful for the very generous, continued support the organisation has received from Sellafield Ltd.

“This funding for the home nursing service will help us continue to provide vital end of life care and support to our patients and their loved ones within the west Cumbrian communities.

“Every year we care for around 250 patients who have a life-limiting illness, and enabling them to remain in a place of their choice is so important.

“The past year has brought many challenges for our teams, but we have continued to provide home nursing care during the pandemic, supporting our local community during incredibly difficult times.”
