
A cycle challenge by workers of a firm based at the Sellafield site in West Cumbria has raised over £3,300 for a county mental health charity.
Staff from the Mitie Cumbria Consortium completed the Tour De Mitie, which saw four teams cycling a combined distance of 4,162.5km over five days.
They raised £3,378.05 was raised for Always Another Way.
The challenge was held from June 15 to June 19 at Blencathra House in Whitehaven. saw four teams complete a 937km virtual route, reflecting the distance between Mitie offices in England.
The cycling challenge brought together Sellafield-based teams, Mitie colleagues and local partners.
Always Another Way was nominated by staff as the contract’s charity of the year.
The event was supported by industrial suppliers Thomas Graham which provided team T-shirts, and hospitality provider BaxterStorey, which supplied refreshments throughout the route.
High Sheriff of Cumbria Shirley Fawcett attended the challenge to cheer on the teams.
