A man in his 60s has been taken to hospital after a serious crash in West Cumbria.

Police were called at 9.24am to a collision outside Bethshan Nursing Home on Yewbarrow Close in Whitehaven.

Involved in the crash were a Vauxhall Vivaro and a Ford Fiesta.

Road closures were in place between the junctions of Meadow Road and Woodhouse Road while emergency services were on scene. The road has now reopened.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria Constabulary said: “A man in his 60s, from Ulverston, has been taken to the West Cumberland Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing.”

North West Ambulance Service confirmed one ambulance attended the scene after a call at 9.17am.
