Firefighters spent two hours tackling a grassland blaze in Carlisle.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service crews attended the fire in the open near Hammond Close, yesterday evening.
The service has urged the public to work together with emergency services to help prevent the potentially devastating impact of wildfires this summer.
Simple steps such as avoiding disposable barbecues or open fires and disposing of cigarettes and litter responsibly can protect the landscape and wildlife.
The appeal comes during an ongoing period of very hot and dry weather, ahead of the school holidays in Cumbria.
Wildfire risk across the county is currently classed as very high. Read more here.
