Allerdale residents reminded of bin collection changes

Residents across Allerdale are being reminded of some changes to bin collections due to the first May bank holiday.

There will be no collections on Monday and collections throughout the week will take place one day later than normal.

For example, bins normally collected on Monday will be collected on Tuesday and collections due for Friday will take place on Saturday.

The collection schedule will return to normal from May 10.

Householders can check their collection days – and download a yearly calendar – on the council’s website at www.allerdale.gov.uk/bincollections.

The council’s customer services department will also be unavailable on bank holiday Monday, reopening from 8.45am on Tuesday, May 4.

However, issues such as fly-tipping, dog fouling and littering can continue to be reported through the council’s website at https://www.allerdale.gov.uk/en/report/ and the ‘myAllerdale’ mobile app.

Payments can also be made online or via the council’s automated payment line 0303 123 1702.

The council can be contacted in an emergency situation, such as for homelessness assistance, on 0303 123 1702. If there is a threat to life people should ring 999.

The council’s customer service offices have reopened on an appointment-only basis to ensure the safety of customers and staff. There is no longer be a walk-in service.

Customers can call 0303 123 1702 to enquire about an appointment at a time and location convenient to them at offices in Allerdale House, Workington, Maryport Town Hall, Keswick Town Hall, Wigton Market Hall and Cockermouth Town Hall.

When making the appointment advisors will discuss the enquiry and confirm the time, date and any documents or information customers need to bring along with them to be able to deal with the enquiry.
