Windermere Jetty Museum will offer discounts for families during the summer holidays if they choose to travel by bus.

As schools break up for the summer, and many of us take to the roads to get to the Lake District, the museum hopes the initiative will help people to consider their carbon footprint.

Passengers will find promotional Windermere Jetty Museum tickets on Stagecoach bus services in Kendal and the Lakes and Lancaster for one child entry to the museum with every adult until September 1.

Windermere Jetty Museum is an award-winning visitor attraction in the heart of the Lake District dedicated to sharing the stories of the boats, people and rich history of Windermere.

In its brand-new immersive and interactive experience, visitors will take a closer look beneath the surface of the lake to uncover the hidden treasure and sunken secrets of some of Windermere’s most intriguing shipwrecks.

WRECKED! dives deep into the fascinating boat collection at the museum and asks visitors to join a team of investigators to help reveal a dark and secret message that will save us all.

Between July 19 and July 25, local bus users with a valid central lakes dayrider, explorer, or North West megarider ticket will also be able to claim the special offer.

Anna Saczek, head of visitor experience, said: “We are delighted to offer families savings during the school holidays if they travel by bus.

“Through our partnership with Stagecoach, we hope to inspire families with a unique day out in the Lakes and also reward visitors who choose greener ways to travel.”

To get to Windermere Jetty Museum, catch the open top 599 service in the central lakes to Bowness Pier. The museum is a short 10-minute walk through the town centre. Visitors from Lancaster or Morecambe need to catch the 555 or 755 service to Windermere Railway Station then hop on the 599 to Bowness. Plan your journey today at stagecoachbus.com.

Windermere Jetty Museum is open 10am – 5pm. To book tickets and check up-to-date opening times, visit windermerejetty.org

Use the discount code JETTYBUS241 and present a valid bus ticket on arrival.
