Coronavirus in Cumbria: Areas with the highest infection rates

Cumbria now has a coronavirus infection rate below the UK average.

It comes just over a week after the county was inside the top 30 areas for its rate per 100,000 people.

The county now has a rate of 261.6 per 100,000. The UK average is 291.8.

Here is the number of new cases by district for the week ending July 27 accompanied by the rate per 100,000:

  • Copeland – 280 (410.7 per 100,000)
  • Barrow – 219 (326.6 per 100,000)
  • Allerdale – 277 (283.3 per 100,000)
  • Carlisle – 239 (219.9 per 100,000)
  • South Lakeland – 219 (208.4 per 100,000)
  • Eden – 74 (139 per 100,000)

Here are the areas in Cumbria with the highest infection rate:

  • Whitehaven Harbour & Corkickle – 43 (812.2 per 100,000)
  • Parton & Distington – 26 (500.1 per 100,000)
  • Flimby, Ellenborough & Broughton Moor – 33 (491.5 per 100,000)
  • Askam & Dalton North – 30 (481.6 per 100,000)
  • Cleator Moor, Frizington & Ennerdale – 55 (473.3 per 100,000)
  • Windermere South & Staveley – 36 (435.8 per 100,000)
  • Hensingham, Hillcrest & Aikbank – 43 (431.7 per 100,000)
  • Workington West – 36 (412.8 per 100,000)
Cumbria now has a coronavirus infection rate below the UK average.
A darker colour indicates a higher infection rate

Hospitilisations

There are currently 23 COVID-19 patients being treated by the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, five of which are on ventilation.

At the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust there are 36 coronavirus patients in hospital, three of which are on ventilation.

The Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust currently has eight COVID-19 patients.

The Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is treating five coronavirus patients.
