Danny Poland and his neighbours in Irthington have been busy preparing the village for the RHS Cumbria in Bloom competition, which was recently judged.
Many locals donated funds, goods and items to help with the project.
The parish corner made use of an upcycled barbecue as a planter, and there are planters underneath, each one donated.
The plants in the display are from Tarn Road Nurseries.
Bumble the beautiful bee has been gifted and is perfect for the pollinator theme. The plants in the ground have been grown by Danny from seed especially for this corner.
Irthington Village School received funding from Brampton and Longtown Rotary Club for hanging pots, compost and plants to go along the length of the school fence at the front of school.
The Elho pots have been made in the Netherlands from recycled plastic, produced with Elho’s own wind power which also supports two million bees in its back garden.
The hanging pots at Irthington School are now in full colour.
Danny said: “This will bring the village together in these times of pandemic as well as being a fun and educational activity for the pupils.”
He was keen to show Irthington resident Bert Ridley the various displays as Bert is a member of Brampton & Longtown Rotary.
Wendy Aldred, on behalf of Rotary, said: “We are absolutely delighted to support this excellent project that has been arranged and led so ably by Danny.”
Winners will be announced next month.
