Two big games at opposite ends of the county provide the opportunity for some exciting cricket on Sunday – weather permitting.
Admittedly the forecast isn’t good for the weekend but hoping it’s wrong again fingers are firmly crossed that both Keswick and Haverigg escape the predicted downpours.
Facing up at Keswick’s award-winning Fitz Park are Cumbria and Cambridgeshire in the semi-final of the MCA Trophy while down in the south of the county Workington will bid to shock Cumbria League Premier Division leaders Furness in the final of the Higson Cup.
Cumbria have not had the best preparation for the semi-final showdown, losing twice in MCA Championship games since they beat Suffolk in the quarter-finals.
But this is a different format and they make three changes from the side which crashed to a heavy defeat in Bedfordshire this week.
Tom Benn (Carlisle), Nico Watt (Wigton) and James McGown (Keswick), who have all played in the MCA Trophy progress come back into the side.
Drew Postlethwaite and Matty Lowden miss out while Ben Davidson drops to 12th man.
That does mean Lowden will be able to captain Workington against Furness provided the finger he damaged batting against Bedfordshire is okay.
But Nathan Waterston misses out for Furness as he will be in the Cumbria side for the trophy semi-final.
