Workington Reds have signed former Ramsbottom fans favourite Nico Evangelinos and the 26-year-old striker goes into the squad to face Morpeth tomorrow.
Bolton-based Evangelinos, who trained with the squad last night, has joined Reds on a 12-month contract and new manager Chris Willcock says he is absolutely delighted.
Willcock said: “I signed Nico for Ramsbottom after watching him play locally with Ashton United where he helped them win promotion to Conference North.
“He is a smashing lad, a great team player and one who both scores and creates goals. He scored 52 in 72 games for Rammy and made a lot of others.
“He’s going to add a lot to our squad as he can play left or right of a front three, and also down the middle.
“At Ramsbottom he was a firm fans’ favourite and I’m sure once he gets the red kit on he is going to be a favourite of the Workington supporters.
“I am really delighted to be linking-up with him again for the new season.”
Evangelinos’ arrival at Borough Park actually re-unites a front three that Willcock had at Ramsbottom with Ruben Jerome and Iyrwah Gooden.
Jerome will not be involved tomorrow while Danny Eccles and Liam Lightfoot are not available along with the injured Scott Allison.
“Ruben is not feeling well but we don’t think its Covid related. However as a precaution we are keeping him away from the rest of the squad,” said Willcock.
The final friendly against Morpeth at Borough Park kicks-off at 3pm.
