One of the most intriguing ties in the Cumbria Cup at the start of the new season has been put back a month.
Local rivals Penrith and Upper Eden were paired together in the first round on September 5 at Winters Park.
But Penrith had arranged a pre-season friendly with Vale of Lune so the Cup-tie against Upper Eden will be staged in October.
The other ties look like taking place on September 5 – a repeat of last season’s final – Kendal v Keswick, Wigton v Aspatria and Hawcoat Park v Kirkby Lonsdale.
The Cumbria Shield has also got a first round change as Cockermouth versus Ambleside won’t play on that scheduled date.
The Lakes club rely a lot on their university players and they won’t be back until after that but a new date has not been announced.
Also in the Shield Creighton, who are celebrating their centenary season, entertain Millom; Furness have returned to competitive rugby and they will host Carlisle; there’s a West Cumbrian derby in prospect with Whitehaven at home to Egremont while Keswick 2nds entertain Workington.
St Benedict’s, Penrith 2nds and Windermere have first round byes.
