Aspatria Hornets secured another victory in the Cumbria Men’s League Division One with a 40-26 success at Hensingham A.
Under really hot conditions it was tough going for both teams but by half-time the Hornets had established a 26-4 lead.
They had made a great start when hooker Keanan Foster darted over after only two minutes but Hensingham were quick to reply four minutes later.
Playing down the hill Aspatria scored a further four first-half tries through Kris Beattie, man of the match Brad Thomson, Ben Tootill and Jack Robinson with Tootill landing three first half conversions.
The Hornets started the second half well when Foster nipped over for his second try.
But credit to a young Hensingham side, they rallied superbly scoring three tries to bring the score back to 30-20 after an hour.
The hydration break came at the right time for the Hornets as they managed to regroup and scored two further tries with Robinson and Thomson scoring their second tries,
Hensingham bagged a late try to complete the scoring when credit must go to both sets of players and the man in the middle Trevor Dryden, for all putting in a great shift on a very warm afternoon.
Cohen Massey (2), Corey-Jay Turner, Luke Clements and Lucas Roper scored the Hensingham tries with Clements kicking three goals.
