Workington’s Carnegie Theatre is appealing for new volunteers.

The theatre is reopening for the first time after lockdown and is in need of support from local people.

With the help of Cumbria CVS, the Finkle Street theatre is hosting a volunteer information session on Tuesday on Zoom from 6pm to 7pm.

The event will provide information on how people can register their interest and apply to be a volunteer, as well as providing training and information on the benefits of volunteering.

Positions include:

  • Evening box office assistant
  • Front of house stewards
  • Trustees

Michael Nutter, the theatre’s hospitality and facilities manager, said: “Whether you can spare a few hours or a couple of days a week or even once a month, you can help our local theatre reopen to the community.”

Judith Smale, volunteering manager at Cumbria CVS added: “I would encourage anyone that has some spare time and would like to make a difference in their local community and helping their local theatre through volunteering to get involved.

“The session is a fantastic opportunity to meet the team and find out about the wide range of opportunities available.”

To register for the session, email [email protected] or call Cumbria CVS on 01768 800350.
