Wigton Rugby, Sports and Fitness Club

A Wigton sports organisation is looking for a general manager for the first time to help drive ambitious plans for the site.

Wigton Rugby, Sports and Fitness Club is centred around the Rugby Union club and gym at Lowmoor Road, the other sports involved include cricket, squash and hockey.

Guy Huxtable, a sports and fitness Club director said: “We have had part time managers before and have a lot of volunteers, but we have ambitious plans to take the club forward coming out of the pandemic, and the time is right for a full-time role.

“The sports and fitness club plays a significant role in the town with 500 members out  of a population of 5,000.

“As we go forward we would like to make improvements to revitalise the clubhouse, extend the gym and make changes to the Astro Turf.

“The aim being to expand the club, to engage new people and new audiences, and to secure our long-term financial sustainability.

“We are quite excited about the potential and our general manager will be heavily involved in achieving these goals.

“They will improve the way we do business and grow activity throughout the site.”
