After their FA Cup heroics on Saturday, Kendal Town slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Ramsbottom in the NPL West.
It prompted a call for consistency from manager Chris Humphrey who had been so impressed with his side’s commitment in the Cup win at Glossop North End.
He said: “We need to be more consistent because after such a determined effort in the Cup we were back to giving away sloppy goals.
“I thought we were outstanding in the last 20minutes of the game but that’s too late and our goal came right at the end.
“We had a great chance after only five minutes and if that had gone in it’s a different game. We would have been able to build more momentum and put them under pressure.
“At the moment we seem to need three or four chances before we can put one away and if we concede silly goals it puts us under pressure.
“But as I keep saying it’s a new, young group and they are on a learning curve. We will talk about things at training on Thursday and prepare for two quick games in three days.”
Kendal visit Northwich on Saturday and on Monday have a home game against Colne.
All the goals last night came in the second-half with Ramsbottom building a 2-0 lead with goals from Jake Thompson (48) and James Murphy (65) while Kendal’s Chris Wraighte pulled one back five minutes from the end.
