A 69-year-old pedestrian who was involved in a collision with a van in Penrith town centre is in a stable condition.
The woman was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary with suspected head injuries after the incident on Tuesday at around 10.45am.
The collision on Devonshire Street by the Musgrave Monument, also involved a white van, driven by a 20-year-old man.
Traffic was diverted for more than three hours as a forensic collision investigation took place.
A police spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian is not as bad as first thought – her injuries are minor.”
The van driver was unharmed.
Both the driver and the pedestrian are believed to be local to the Penrith area.
