Kendal return to competitive first-team rugby this weekend for the first time since March 2020, writes Mark Hodgkiss.
They are now playing in North One West, after spending the 19/20 season operating in the East Division.
The first fixture is a Cumbrian derby at Carlisle, another team returning to the West section but following their relegation from the Premier.
It is expected to be a good early test for the Kendal side who won both of their pre-season games against Aspatria and Moortown.
Most of the 2019/20 squad who finished the season strongly before it ended early have returned, along with a number of new recruits who will strengthen the group and add competition for places.
Newcomers include second-rower Reece Tomlinson and scrum-half James Gough who both return to the club after spending time playing elsewhere, along with prop Hugh Davies and all three made an impact in the warm-up fixtures.
There’s also a game at Mint Bridge on Saturday when Kendal Seconds entertain Birkenhead Park Wanderers (KO 3pm).
