Workington Reds boss Chris Willcock has landed another new face for the game at Widnes today.
Louis Rowe, 22, who started his career at Barnsley is a 6ft 3in centre forward who Willcock believes has the ability to play again at a higher level.
“We had him at Ramsbottom after he had been released by Barnsley and I don’t think he was in the right frame of mind.”
“He was still disappointed at being released by his pro club and found it difficult adjusting to non league football.
“But I have followed his career and I think hes ready again to give it a good go.”
He is a superb athlete, can be a bit of an animal on the pitch and he holds up the ball well.
“He scores goals and has all the attributes.
“Because of our situation I thought it was worth a try as we’ve a number of forwards still struggling with fitness issues.
“He will start on the bench at Widnes but depending on the state of the game I’m sure we will get a look at him at some point.”
Reds had signed 25year-old striker Conor Gaul on Thursday after his release by Clitheroe. Rowe had been playing for Liversedge in the North West Counties League.
Reds travel to Widnes without nine senior players.
