Workington Athletic kept up the chase for the Cumberland County League Premier Division title with a narrow 3-2 home victory over Carlisle City Development.

Matthew Perry came up with the winning goal after Greg Quayle and Kevin Connelly had been on target earlier. A Robbie Cowley double for City kept the result in doubt until the final whistle.

Pirelli maintained top spot when they came out in charge of the Carlisle derby with Northbank at the Sheepmount Stadium.

Goals from Ben Campbell, Kieran Blair, Liam Delaney, a Scott Priest penalty and a brace from Luke Firth gave them all the three points on offer in a 6-3 victory.

Northbank kept up the pressure throughout the game with strikes from Kevin McKenna and a double from Luke Miller.

There was a nine-goal thriller at Highfield in the mid-table clash where Cockermouth entertained Wigton Harriers, the visitors coming out on top 5-4.

Dan Martos, Sam Irving, Jonny Studholme each contributing a goal apiece, while Stuart Carruthers finished with a double.  Cockermouth kept the final outcome in doubt with goals from Louis Pickering, Mark Campbell, Robert Cox and Sam Wright.

The game between Workington Reds Development and Maryport Athletic produced a 1-1 stalemate.  Taylor Hambling scoring for the Reds, while Cameron Harker  replied for Athletic.

The Gosforth home game against Aspatria was cancelled due to low player availability for the hosts.  Similar to other clubs they have been given a two-week suspension of fixtures to allow them time to address the issues.

In Division One Cleator Moor Celtic Reserves halted the progress of leaders Mirehouse at the top of the table by  winning 4-3.

Despite a hat trick by Kyle Bailiff for Mirehouse, the visitors’ Adam Meagan proved to be the thorn in the side of the hosts, scoring all of Celtic’s four goals.

Silloth continued their run of form with a good 3-1 away win at Whitehaven Amateurs Reserves.  Dan Starkey provided the Amateurs goal with Leon Hewitson, Dan Hewitson and Spencer Irving ensuring Silloth travelled back up the coast with all three points.

Windscale Reserves travelled to Carlisle to take on UniSun Athletic and despite taking a two-goal lead through Lewis Selkirk and Mark Callan, they returned home empty handed suffering a 3-2 defeat.

UniSun clawed themselves back into the game through a Karlton Rudd penalty, while they went on to win courtesy of goals from David Osbourne and Jason McAleese.
