An Ulverston man has been ordered to pay more than £1,200 after he broke coronavirus rules by continuing to wash vehicles during lockdown.
Evaldas Dackys, who gave his address as Devonshire Service Station, broke tier four coronavirus rules by washing cars in Ulverston on February 15. Car washes were not permitted to open at this time under the government’s rules.
The 31-year-old admitted the offence by single justice procedure. This involves the case being decided outside of court, with defendants receiving a single justice procedure notice.
The case was dealt with by Carlisle’s magistrates’ court on Monday.
Dackys was fined £1,066, told to pay a surcharge of £106 and was ordered to pay £85 in costs.
