A 73-year-old woman is in a critical but stable condition after a crash on the A65.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the two-vehicle collision near Lupton yesterday, which happened shortly before 2pm.

The collision involved a BMW 3 Series and a Suzuki Swift.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 73-year-old woman from York, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital and is described as critical but stable.

An occupant of the BMW was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary with minor injuries and has since been discharged.
