Trudy Harrison at St Bees School

Copeland MP Trudy Harrison has taken part in a question-and-answer session with pupils from St Bees School.

Mrs Harrison was the school’s guest for a special assembly, during which she shared the story of her journey into politics before answering some wide-ranging and probing questions from the pupils.

Topics covered included electric vehicles, social media, gender stereotypes and Brexit.

Mrs Harrison said: “I was extremely impressed by the pupils’ inquisitiveness, and their questions were very well researched and constructed.

“It’s clear that the pupils at St Bees have a good knowledge of local and national issues and are keen to learn more.

“It was my pleasure to answer their questions and I hope the session gave them further insight into how local communities and the Government operate.”

Headteacher Robin Silk added: “Not only did Mrs Harrison’s visit give our students the chance to ask some burning questions important to them, but meeting an MP inspires individuals into learning more about our political landscape and future careers.  A successful afternoon for all!”
