A Keswick man will be sentenced by a judge next month after he admitted a cannabis supply crime.

Benjamin Davies Bland, 38, faced one charge when he appeared in front of magistrates in Carlisle earlier today.

Bland, of Helvellyn Street, admitted the possession of cannabis with intent to supply it to others.

Prosecutor John Moran said he was found with 10 small individual bags of the controlled class B drug having initially been stopped by police in connection with an unrelated matter, and then searched.

His offence took place on 13th February at Carlisle, and mobile phone messages revealing his involvement in the illegal drug supply had also since been recovered.

Magistrates concluded that their powers of sentencing were not sufficient and declined jurisdiction.

As a result, Bland — who was represented during the hearing by solicitor John Smith — had his case committed to Carlisle Crown Court.

Bland is due to receive his punishment from a judge on 9th November, and in the meantime he was granted bail.
