Comedian, TV and radio star, and newly published author Tez Ilyas is coming to Carlisle with a promise.

Tez took time out from his tour and TV appearances to record a special message for the Old Fire Station where he is appearing next week.

“If you’re not from Carlisle I reckon they’ll let you in the gig without having to stay forever and ever.

“So if you are in the Cumbria area generally and want some stand-up comedy in your life, come and I’ll entertain the pants off you.”

In 2015 Tez – short for Tehzeeb – achieved phenomenal success with his debut stand-up hour TEZ Talks. A sell-out run at the Soho Theatre in London and his own Radio 4 series based on the show followed.

In 2016 his highly anticipated follow-up show Made in Britain went on to sell out every single performance at the Edinburgh Fringe with a nationwide tour in 2017. His third show Teztify once again delivered a spectacularly powerful, provocative and brilliantly funny hour of topical stand-up.

Tez’s many TV appearances include Live at The Apollo (BBC Two), The Last Leg (C4), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Man Like Mobeen (BBC Three), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4),and The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice (C4).

His Channel 4 comedy Blap Bounty is the most watched show in the strand’s 10-year history. In 2019 he fronted his own Channel 4 satirical sketch series The Tez O’Clock Show to huge critical acclaim.

In April Tez added another string to his already well-strung bow with the release of his debut novel The Secret Diary of a British Muslim Aged 13 3/4, a teenage memoir which was quickly snapped up for scripted adaptation.

His latest Vicked tour comes to The Old Fire Station in Carlisle on November 18.
