Cleator Moor Celtic reached the quarter-final of the County Cup with an emphatic 7-0 home win over Keswick.
They dominated the game from start to finish, although battling Keswick restricted the hosts to just two goals in the first half.
The hoops had gotten off to a great start on six minutes when Jack Hunter headed home a corner from Kieran Maguire.
It was Maguire who was closest to doubling the lead on 22 minutes with a clever free-kick which was just wide.
However, two minutes later Celtic did add a second from their leading goal-scorer Jay Wetherill.
He superbly controlled a cross on the edge of the area before hammering a half-volley into the bottom corner.
A minute into the second-half substitute Tom Mahone latched onto a long ball from Matty Reid before lifting his shot over the keeper to make it 3-0.
Six minutes later Mahone had his second, taking a free kick 25 yards out he found the net with the Keswick keeper left rooted to the spot.
Goals continued to flow for the home side as Maguire drilled in a low shot into the bottom corner and then he scored a second with a lovely curled free-kick over the keeper.
Eight minutes from the end Mahone was fouled in the box and he got back up to slam home the spot-kick and complete his hat-trick.
Celtic’s win, to continue their splendid run of form, means only one second-round tie is to be completed – Carlisle City v Windscale which is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, November 23.
Top of the North West Counties League’s form table, Celtic will be looking to keep their run going at Ashton Town on Saturday – having beaten their hosts 2-1 last weekend at Cleator Moor.
