Kendal Town will be pushing to make the Parkside Road club family friendly as new officials take the Mintcakes forward.
Chairman Michael O’Neill, a fortnight into the role, was encouraged by a fans’ forum after last Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Market Drayton.
The need to make the club attractive to supporters of all ages, is one of the messages, with family groups his target.
“I was really pleased with the response we got from the fans at the forum. There would be about 30 present and there were a lot of intelligent questions asked on how the club was to be run.
“One of the main topics was the club’s constitution, and the membership, and to be fair it’s something I am going to have to check on and report back.
“There seems to be a suggestion that a lack of volunteers coming forward in the past has been down to the constitutional liabilities.
“I’ve said right from the word go that we want to be transparent in how we run the club and that was reiterated at the forum.
“We also want to attract more family groups and have a number of ideas in the pipeline for pre-match and half-time entertainment.”
O’Neill believes he has made the right appointment in Warren Beattie as manager and felt that was supported by the reaction of the fans.
“The fact that he is a former player, as is his assistant David Woodruff, I believe has gone down well with the supporters. They know they both have a feel for the club.
“I’ve been at the club every day since I was appointed chairman and I’m really looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead,” he said.
The win over Market Drayton lifted Kendal off the bottom of the table and Beattie is looking to follow up at City of Liverpool on Saturday.
