Work has begun to retrieve, extinguish and safely dispose of waste burning at an industrial estate near Carlisle.
Multi-agency partners are working closely to bring the incident at North West Recycling on Rockcliffe Estate safely to a close.
Six fire engines were called to the site on November 8 to deal with a blaze involving 500 tonnes of plastic. The fire is still burning.
Additional smoke will be generated in the short term which is required in order to progress with the safe clearance of the site.
Residents are advised to keep all windows and doors closed over the coming days as a precautionary measure.
