8 areas in Cumbria with highest coronavirus infection rate

Cumbria continues to have a coronavirus infection rate significantly below the national average – as new cases fell by two per cent in the latest figures.

There were 1,488 new cases in Cumbria in the week ending on December 10, a decrease of 33 (-2%), from 1,521 new cases in the previous week.

Here are the areas in Cumbria with the highest rate of coronavirus infection. The number of cases in the seven-day period ending on December 10 is accompanied by the rate per 100,000 in brackets:

  • Parkside – 34 (519.8 per 100,000)
  • Mirehouse, Kells & Woodhouse – 48 (483.2 per 100,000)
  • Kendal Town & Greenside – 41 (481.5 per 100,000)
  • Hensingham, Hillcrest & Aikbank – 46 (465.2 per 100,000)
  • Thornhill, Gosforth & Seascale – 40 (463.9 per 100,000)
  • Cleator Moor, Frizington & Ennerdale – 53 (454.7 per 100,000)
  • Egremont & Moor Row – 35 (451.6 per 100,000)
  • Burton-in-Kendal, Levens & Natland – 31 (424.8 per 100,000)
