A Cumbrian scheme to help domestic abuse survivors through donated beauty products has become a national campaign.
VL Aesthetics is running Regifting Beauty for a third year to support the Freedom Project in West Cumbria and Refuge in the south of the country.
The Carlisle clinic is urging people to donate unwanted toiletries, skincare products, and beauty items which will then be regifted back to those whose domestic situation means they may not have easy access to them.
After last year’s campaign was cancelled because of COBID, this time it has expanded to be countrywide and VL Aesthetics have been joined by the award-winning Dr Medispa in Knightsbridge, London, whose director is Dr Munir Somji, and another award-winner, Light Touch Clinic in Surrey.
All three clinics are Emerald Centres of Excellence, making them flagships for the Emerald Laser.
Vanessa Brown, managing director of VL Aesthetics, said: “Regifting Beauty was cancelled last year due to COVID, so we are thrilled to have it back again for 2022.”
Vicky Pike, of the Freedom Project, said: “We would like to thank Vanessa and VL Aesthetics for the support they have given us over the last couple of years, helping support our service users but also spreading awareness of domestic abuse in Cumbria.
“The Regifting Beauty campaign makes a real difference to our service, helping us provide additional support to victims of abuse.
“The products allow us to provide emergency parcels containing items such as soap, body wash, hand sanitiser etc to those in need.
“Additionally, it also allows us to gift non-essential items, things survivors wouldn’t necessarily be able to afford themselves or aren’t of a high priority over other issues they may be facing.
“The beauty products allow survivors to take the steps to practice some self care and do something for themselves, something that is quite often forgotten about.”
The Regifting campaign will run until the end of this month and will be extended in the event of any lockdowns.
