People can get involved with a new project in the Lake District, thanks to a landscape charity.
Friends of the Lake District member Mike Hambrey gave the charity five hectares of land in Threlkeld, near Keswick, to create a new wood.
The charity is offering people a chance to help with Dam Mire Wood.
Land manager Jan Darrall said: “We are really excited to be able to offer a new volunteer opportunity at what is now our most northerly property in Cumbria.
“Anyone is welcome to book up and join us on our first volunteering work party of the year where we will be doing some staking and weeding of newly planted trees.
“This is the first of many opportunities that people will have to enjoy this new public space.
“Working with West Cumbria Rivers Trust we are creating new woodland habitats and we are keen for people to get involved and give us ideas as to what other things they would like us to do with the land.”
The woodland will be made accessible to the public early this year. A new access path has been created to Dam Mire Wood and the charity is now looking for people who are willing to help get their hands dirty by helping to look after and enhance the land.
The work party takes place on Monday January 10.
