University graduates are supporting a campaign to reopen a historic bridge in Carlisle.

The Carlisle Waverley Viaduct Trust has been campaigning to reopen the Waverley Viaduct – which links the Cumberland Infirmary to Etterby and Stainton across the River Eden – for more than a decade.

They have now enlisted the support of Northumbria University business graduates to conduct a survey with the aim of establishing how much people in Carlisle know about the campaign, what are their thoughts about it and raising awareness about the benefits it could bring to the city.

Campaigners hope to use the results of the survey to drive forward their efforts to reopen the bridge.

The survey was launched on December 15 and will close on January 10.
