Around 30 people came together to remember Nataliae and Harry Kane at an event in Whitehaven.
The event was organised by a friend of the 27-year-old, who was found dead with one-year-old Harry in the town on December 30.
Nadene Murray, 32, met Natalie through the charity Women Out West and she said the pair became close.
People gathered in Castle Park – Natalie’s favourite place – and remembered her and Harry.
Nadene, Ruth McDonald and another friend Donna, tied balloons and put sweets and books out for youngsters to take away. Naden’s mother Lorinda also helped to organise the event.
Nadene said: “I’ve chosen Castle Park as it was Natalie’s favourite place to go. She would always take videos of herself and Harry playing on the swings and teaching him to walk.
“My brother Terry made a speech then I got up and said a few a few words thanking everyone for coming.
“Harry and Natalie would be amazed at how loved they really were – me and some of Natalie’s neighbours have tied flowers to her door and left memorial balloons outside her home too.”
Nadene met Natalie last year when she moved near Nadene’s mother.
Nadene added: “We hit it off really well we went for coffee together and whenever I came up as I now live in Egremont she would come down and we’d sit and talk for hours me and my family became really close to them both.
“I’d buy Harry little Peter Rabbit outfits as she loved him in them.
“She was the best mother and managed to look after Harry so well.
“We are all going to miss them both so much.”
Natalie, 27, and Harry were found at Wellington Row, Whitehaven. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and the coroner has been informed.
A fund was set up by friends to give the pair the ‘best send-off possible’. It has now raised £7,475 and any cash left over will be donated to Women Out West.
On Friday, friends came together to celebrate the lives of Natalie and Harry in Maryport.
Natalie was a former pupil of Netherhall School in the town.
