A former student of Kirkbie Kendal School has been honoured in a special ceremony after receiving the Lamont Pridmore Business Studies Student of the Year Award.

Caitlin Whitehead was awarded the title based on her work at the school and her dedication to the business studies subject during the last academic year.

Currently studying at the University of Arizona, Caitlin took the opportunity to pick up her award on her return home to Cumbria, following her first trimester of a golf scholarship, where she has been playing for the university team in Hawaii.

Well-known internationally as a member of the England golf team, it is her other passion, business, which helped land the award sponsored by one of Cumbria’s leading independent accountancy firms.

The school said: “Caitlin’s business skills were exemplary throughout her course.

“She has fantastic communication skills and amazing time management, always completing tasks on time and to the best of her ability. She was excellent at analysis in a business context and thoroughly deserved this award.”

For more than 10 years,, Lamont Pridmore has supported Kirkbie Kendal’s school awards – recognising the most talented business studies students and encouraging future entrepreneurs.

Karl Burrell, managing director of Lamont Pridmore’s offices in South Cumbria and Lancashire, said: “It’s great to see the passion and drive that Caitlin has not only on the green, but also in pursuit of her studies.

“Her interest in business studies was really exciting to hear about and I am glad that we can help her gain the recognition she deserves.

“Supporting Cumbria’s young people and their education is really important. After all, they could be the region’s future business leaders.”
